MEET THE ARTIST & AUTHOR

APRIL LOUANN MITCHELL

APRIL LOUANN MITCHELL is a Galveston County, Texas artist, author, and the founder of Mystic Dragonfly Creations. An oil painter first, she creates at the crossroads of art, nature, research, memory, and storytelling. Her work often begins with something real—a stone, a found object, a landscape, a painting, or an unanswered question—and grows from the simple invitation to look closer and ask, “What is this?”

MYSTIC DRAGONFLY CREATIONS

Mystic Dragonfly Creations is the creative home that holds April's entire body of work. It brings together her original artwork, books, natural discoveries, research, public exhibits, events, and community storytelling. It is where the things she discovers in the physical world are documented, studied, painted, shared, and sometimes transformed into stories.

THE DRAGONFLY JOURNALS

The Dragonfly Journals is the literary branch of that world: a planned seven-book series in which Earth is imagined as a living Archive and stones become its pages. The series begins with Ignivar's Heartstone and continues with Ignivar: The Flame-Born Guardian. Within the books, Ignivar guards the connection between fire, stone, memory, and story, while Avrilis gives voice to the stories waiting to be remembered.

THE DRAGONFLY ARCHIVE

The Dragonfly Archive is the bridge connecting the real discoveries to the imaginative world. It gathers the stones, artifacts, paintings, photographs, observations, articles, histories, and questions that inspire the books. It respects the difference between what is documented, what is possible, and what belongs to mythology—because the Archive has never feared the words, “I don't know.”

Together, the three form one living creative world: Mystic Dragonfly Creations is the home. The Dragonfly Archive preserves the discoveries and their stories. The Dragonfly Journals carry those stories into the realm of literature.
