Not the gentle, scattered twinkling of summer, but a synchronized spiral of living light—dancing in patterns no firefly has ever been taught. They hovered near an old, twisted oak. Beneath its roots, the earth glowed softly, as if a heartbeat thumped beneath the soil.
April—artist, observer, dreamer—felt the pull before she understood it. She stepped forward, breath caught, heart aligning with the pulse beneath her.
And the ground opened.
Not in violence, but in revelation.
A soft exhale of warm air rose from the cracked earth. Colors—teal, amber, silver—poured upward in shimmering waves. Light curled around her, tasting her spirit, measuring her truth.

But the way Ignivar arrived was… unprecedented.
One evening, April painted a fox on her fence—a swirling blaze of ember-red fur and sapphire markings. As night fell, something stirred. A tiny spark appeared in the fox’s eye. Then a blink.
Ignivar stepped forward—half spirit, half paint, fully alive.
“I am Ignivar,” he said, voice like a warm hearth.
“And where you walk… I walk with you.”
Ignivar is not a pet.
